by Troyka-TC, on 06/15/2020
MADISON, WI — June 15, 2020 —The Gordon J. Flesch Scholarship Program is proud to announce 20 scholarships have been awarded to dependent children of company employees. Named in honor of company founder Gordon Flesch, the scholarship program has been awarding annual scholarships to the children of company associates since 1995, distributing more than $1.4 million through the program.
The Gordon J. Flesch Scholarship Program is administered by a third-party organization, Scholarship America, which reviews applications and selects winners based solely on the merits of the application.
High school seniors, graduates who plans to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year.
The program is available to the children of Troyka-TC associates who have been with the company for one year or more and will be attending an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school (undergraduate only). Applicants are evaluated on both academic performance and non-academic activities such as organizational involvement and leadership roles.
In 2020, twenty recipients were selected for awards with all seven of the company’s primary branch offices represented. “This year has been an unusual and especially challenging year for high school seniors, who have had their final year of high school interrupted and graduation ceremonies cancelled,” says Brad Olm, Vice President of Human Resources with the Troyka-TC. “We are thrilled to be able to continue this successful program and help another class of young students as they continue their education and move on to the next, exciting chapter in their lives.”
Up to twenty $4,000 scholarships will be awarded each year. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered.
