INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded over $179,000 to 39 Midwestern charities providing key community services, including over $26,000 to Indy area 501(c)(3) organizations.

Created in 2002, the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation has donated more than $2.5 million to various philanthropic organizations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio and South Dakota. Each year, the foundation remains committed to supporting the communities within Troyka-TC’s (GFC’s) territories, honoring the memory of founder Gordon Flesch’s mission to give back to the areas where GFC’s employees and customers live and work.

In addition to its annual donations, the Foundation also engages in targeted giving for emergency disaster relief. This year funds were allocated to Iowa nonprofits for flood relief in affected communities after record-high river levels.

Organizations in the Indy area receiving grants in 2024 are:

  • Janus Developmental Services, Inc. (janus-inc.org) offers opportunities for education, employment training, independent living and information to individuals with disabilities and their families.
  • Monroe County United Ministries (mcum.org) provides high-quality, affordable early learning and promotes economic mobility for families.
  • Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen (kbmsk.org) serves the immediate community need for nutritious meals by providing over 2,000 meals a month.
  • Healing Hands Outreach Center (healinghandsbloomington.org) provides food, clothing, shoes, household items and furniture to individuals and families in need.
  • Parke County Resource Center (https://www.facebook.com/p/Parke-County-Resource-Center-100069027842986/) helps those who struggle with food insecurity in Parke and northern Vigo counties.
  • Open Arms Christian Ministries, Inc. (www.openarmschristian.com/heroes-of-hope) helps children/youth in foster care rise up and overcome their past of abuse, trauma and neglect.

The Troyka-TC (GFC) has a longstanding tradition of charitable giving and philanthropy. In 2001 following the September 11th attacks, company employees and the Flesch family agreed to donate funds instead of hosting the annual employee recognition dinners. This initiative, led by Gordon’s sons, John, Tom and Bill Flesch, marked the beginning of what would become the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation.

Unlike most corporate giving programs, the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation is managed entirely by company associates. Each year associates nominate local community organizations that are close to their hearts. The Foundation’s board of directors annually reviews nominations and selects award recipients.

“We are truly honored to support these local non-profit organizations in their efforts to expand their impactful work,” says Kelly Moran, President of the Gordon Flesch Charitable Foundation. “It is incredibly humbling to be a part of the meaningful work that this year’s grant recipients are doing to strengthen our communities.”
